Dear Resident, Following conversations with many of you at the Petersfield Festival, we wanted to provide some clear information about your local police teams, what we do, and how you can contact us when you need us. Your Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) Your local Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) is made up of a sergeant, Police Officers, Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs), and Special Constables who are dedicated to serving Petersfield and the surrounding communities. The Butser Team is based at Petersfield Police Station and work a varied shift pattern. Sometimes we are in the office doing paperwork or we might be on patrol or attending someone’s home to follow up on reported incidents. Our role includes: We focus on prevention, visibility, and community engagement, while also dealing with crimes that matter most to our community. What is the difference between Neighbourhoods Policing and District Policing Team? You may hear different policing terms, so here’s a simple explanation: Your local team, focused on community issues, crime prevention, visible patrols, and longer-term problem solving. Officers who respond to emergency and immediate incidents, such as crimes in progress, urgent calls for help, and 999 calls. Both teams work closely together but have different roles to ensure the right officers respond at the right time. How to Contact Us There are several ways to get in touch, depending on your needs: Emergency – Call 999 Call 999 if: Non-emergency – Call 101 Call 101 for: Online Reporting You can also report incidents online: This is often the quickest way to report non-urgent matters. Front Counter Opening Times If you wish to visit a police station in person: Petersfield Police Station front counter: Opening times can occasionally change, due to staffing or sickness. The front counter in manned by Station Enquiry Officers and not PCs or PCSOs. They are there to take your report face to face. Working Together We rely on your information and feedback to help us understand local concerns and target our work effectively.
